Welcome to Michigan Information Services
Where can you get the best advice regarding the most important decisions affecting the quality of your life and that of your family?
At Michigan Information Services we share information and help spread awareness of all of the help that people can access while telling people what we do.
There are several valuable discount cards that are available to folks at no cost depending on what county you reside in that can save you hundreds of dollars on prescription drugs, dental, vision, hearing aids and even pet medication. The Medicare & You handbook tells us that at least 70% of people over 65 will need long-term care services at some point. It also tells us that Medicare and most health insurance do not pay for this type of care unless you own less than $2,000 in assets. MI Choice is a state run home and community-based long term care program that can assist qualified individuals and give them options other than a nursing home. Veteran's Affairs Aid and Attendance is another benefit which gives qualified veterans a monthly pension up to $1,704/month to help with long term care costs.
Estate Recovery is now in effect in Michigan and allows the State to seize your home if they have assisted with paying for Long Term Care expenses. A simple type of deed could be the difference between your home going to the State or your children.
State Law says that the value of life insurance is a "countable" asset if face value is $1,500 or more and may need to be liquidated. Most investments are not protected from Long Term Care expenses but there are a few select strategies that can be utilized to protect retirement income for the at-home spouse. Sadly, most couples will spend their nest egg on LTC because they are not aware of these strategies.
We know we need to earn your trust in our ability to help you with the critical aspects of your life. Everything we do reflects a bottom-line dedication to justifying that trust, and we would like a chance to help you.
